Intended audience
Operators involved in rope access system;
Operators involved in rope access system supevision (subsequently they will have to also attend the supervisors module);
Any other individuals concerned such employers, freelancers, security staff and inspectors.
Prerequisites
Participants must be:
- in good, self-certified physical and mental condition;
- of age.
Objectives
Provide the necessary skills (knowledge and ability), for carrying rope access.
Contents
- Presentation of the course. General regulations regarding hygiene and safety at work with particular reference to construction sites and work at height.
- Analysis of evaluation of the most recurring risks in working at heights (environmental risks, falls from heights and suspension, the use of particular equipment and substances, etc.).
- Specific PPE for work on ropes (a) harnesses and helmets (b) ropes, lanyards, webbing, shock absorbers energy (c) connectors, brakes, blockers, pulleys relating to access, positioning and suspension.
Their suitability and compability with equipment and substances; maintenance (daily check and periodic, cleaning and storage, responsibility). - Regulatory classification and techniques for creating anchorages and re-anchors.
- Illustration of most frequent types of work with ropes, re-anchor according to the methods access and exit from the work area.
- Techniques and operating procedures with access from above, lowering or descending on ropes and techniques bottom access (fall factor).
- Risks and methods of protecting ropes (edges,knots,wear).
- Organization of team work, operator tasks and communication methods.
- First aid elements and rescue operating procedures: illustration of the contents of the kit recovery and its use.
- Use of ropes and other access systems. Safe ascent and descent.
- Creation of anchors and re-anchors.
- Movement within the canopy.
- Positioning in the canopy.
- Simulation of carrying out work activities with lifting of work equipment and application of techniques for lowering the resulting material.
- Application of evacuation and rescue techniques.
PPE and Log book
The PPE required for the course (with the exception of clothing, footwear, and gloves) will be provided by Kong S.p.A.
Logbook holders (Kong, Irata, GWO) are required to bring it with them for recording updates.
Certification
A certificate of attendance is issued with a learning assessment and after having participated in at least 90% of the total course hours.
Payment procedure
Bank transfer within two days of receipt of the course confirmation. Registration will only be officially confirmed upon receipt of the fee.
Cancellation
In case of cancellation Kong S.p.A. will retain:
- 50% if the cancellation is made within 5 working days before the beginning of the course
- the entire fee if the cancellation is made from the fourth working day before the beginning of the course, at the beginning of the course or after the course has started
Any absences for health reasons only entitle the fee to be suspended.
